The beginning of 2021 has been rough on everybody with European-wide restrictions being enforced and people living in continued isolation. What’s more, the prices of construction materials have risen to new heights, making it even harder to stay competitive in the construction market. But all that said, we are happy and thankful to have new partnerships and projects to keep us busy in the coming months, as we are starting and finishing a few large residential projects.
Modular construction is a smart way to build large projects. Hotels, apartment complexes, schools, dormitories - almost no building is too big or too complicated. It’s a clever construction method that is eco-friendly and energy-efficient — long gone are the days when modular construction meant cutting corners. Nowadays, it’s a whole different story.
Although 2020 has been a turbulent year, our prefab house factories have been working non-stop to provide our business clients with new, large, multistorey modular buildings. As we have completed several new projects in 2020, what are we looking forward to in the first months of 2021? Here’s a little scope.
One of our most recently completed projects was handed over in the fourth quadrant of this year. We completed two prefabricated apartment buildings in the city of Turku in collaboration with NCC Suomi Oy. The buildings are a part of a larger wooden building block named “Turun Linnanfältti”
Modular construction is a technique in which we create complex structures from prefabricated modules. Usually, it’s a challenge to combine several modules into one complete apartment or a building. In the case of micro-apartments though, we can fit a whole apartment into a single module.
2019 was the year when global markets increasingly focused on the promise of modular construction, including its possibilities and ways it can realized projects with its innovative technologies. As the recap of the first half of the year indicated, 2019 had the potential of being a year of rapid growth for Astel Modular. We’re glad to say that everything we hoped for materialized and now we have the pleasure to look back at a successful year, filled with new endeavours.
Astel Modular has reached an agreement with Andersson Company Byggnads AB to produce new rental apartment buildings in the Stockholm area. The planning works have begun and the works are set to be carried out in 2020. The total volume of the project is 5500 m2 and the project consists of two buildings, to be completed in succession.
